Scrap-Cracklings #17

Today is Let It Go Day.
This is a day to let go of things that are holding you back, weighing you down, or keeping you from being the best person you can be.

Are you feeling guilty about something you did a long time ago? Let it go.
Are you still mad at your third grade teacher for being mean to you? Let it go.
Are you still sad about a friend that said something to hurt your feelings? Let it go.
Holding on to a helium-filled balloon? Let it go.

Random Club Begins!

Looking for something to do this Tuesday? Look no further!
The Tigard Public Library Teen Room is the place to be Tuesday afternoons from 2-4pm. Join us for Random Club. There is no theme, it's, you know, random.
This Tuesday, June 25, we will be creating black-out poetry and mini books.
Black out poetry is random poetry. We will have pages from discarded books for you to use. You'll take a sharpie and mark out every word except the words you want as your poem.
At this Random Club you will also get to choose from 4 different books to make. Make one, or make them all! They're fun and easy.

Scrap-Cracklings #16

Today is Father's Day. I have been celebrating Father's Day all my life not knowing that the holiday is not that old. While the idea for it first began in 1910, the official Presidential Proclamation didn't happen until 1966.
What will you do for your dad today? You could do something complicated like make dinner for him. Or you could keep it simple. Tell him about a time you remember in your life when he was there for you.

Top it all off by saying those words every parent longs to hear: "I think I'll clean my room."
Whatever you do, do not make him a cake that looks like this

Scrap-Cracklings #15

Let's wish Donald Duck a happy birthday! Pretend I just said that like Donald Duck.
He was born today, June 9, 1934. Doesn't he look good for being 79 years old?

Scrap-Cracklings #14

Yesterday was Say Something Nice Day.
Today is Yell "Fudge" At The Cobras in North America Day.
In order to keep poisonous cobras out of North America, (anywhere north of Panama Canal) it is exremely important to go outside at noon - right now, it's noon - and yell "Fudge" to keep the cobras away.

It has worked so far. Cobras are only found in southern Africa, through southern Asia, and some of the islands of south east Asia. Quick! Get out there and yell, "Fudge." It could mean the difference between finding an average garter snake sunning itself on the rock in your yard, or finding a poisonous snake staring you down at the doorstep.
